CARNIVAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Virgin Islands Carnival Committee announces 2017 V.I. Carnival theme: “A Centennial Commemoration for our 65th Carnival Celebration”, submitted by Mr. Clement “Cain” Magras.
 

ATTENTION ALL CALYPSONIANS

​Please be advised that there will be a very important meeting for all Calypsonians participating in the VI Carnival Calypso Elimination Tent on Thursday, March 16th at 6:30pm, at the Police Department Office in Annas Retreat, located next to the basketball courts. For more information, please call the Chairperson of the Calypso Tent, Buddy Kennings at (340) 771-4918.

The Calypso Elimination Tent will be held on April 1st at 8:00pm at the Crown Bay Center.

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR CARNIVAL 2017 JUDGES

The V.I. Carnival Committee’s Judges Sub-Committee has applications available for individuals who would like to judge Carnival 2017 events.

Applications are available at the V.I. Carnival Committee’s office on Krondprindsens Gade, St. Thomas. Deadline is March 17.

FORMER CARNIVAL QUEENS

21-Feb-2017:  Carnival committee seeks photos from former queens. The V.I. Carnival Committee is asking all former V.I. Carnival Queens to submit their photos to be included in the 65th anniversary booklet. Photos must be submitted by email to colormaxvi@gmail.com, with the subject: Former Carnival Queen. Along with the photo, the former queen must include her name and the year that she won the crown.

Photos should be emailed before February 25th, so we can have them printed in the 2017 Carnival Booklet.

PRE-J’OUVERT REGISTRATION

The V.I. Carnival Committee is requesting that all organizations wishing to participate in the V.I. Carnival 2017 pre-J’ouvert, contact the Carnival Committee’s office.

This request includes those organizations that have previously participated in the pre-J’ouvert, as well as those who are wishing to participate for the first time in Carnival 2017.

Organizations that do not contact the V.I. Carnival Committee and receive approval to participate in the pre-J’ouvert will not be allowed on the road during the pre-J’ouvert hours.

VILLAGE BOOTH APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE AT COMMITTEE OFFICE

Applications for the 2017 Virgin Islands Carnival Village booth owners and Cultural Fair vendors are now available at the Carnival Committee’s Office.

T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST FOR STUDENTS

The V.I. Carnival Committee’s Children’s Activities Sub-Committee invites elementary school students across the territory to participate in the Carnival 2017 T-shirt design contest.

Artwork submitted for the contest must:

  • Capture the concept of the V.I. Toddlers’ Derby
  • Include the Carnival theme: “A Centennial Commemoration for Our 65th Carnival Celebration”
  • Have a neat and clean appearance for scanning purposes
  • Be signed by the student

The student’s name, school they attend, grade and contact information must be submitted with the artwork, but not written on the artwork. The student with the winning design will be awarded a prize, and have his/her artwork placed on the 2017 Toddlers’ Derby T-shirts, which are distributed to all Toddlers’ Derby contestants.

Deadline to submit artwork to the VICC office is 5 p.m. Friday. For additional information, contact the V.I. Carnival Committee Office at 340-776-3112. Jr. Calypso application deadline extended to Friday

The V.I. Carnival Committee’s Jr. Calypso Sub-Committee has extended the application submission deadline for Carnival 2017 to Friday.

YOUNG CALYPSONIANS

Young calypsonians interested in participating in the Jr. Calypso Competition must complete the application and return it to the V.I. Carnival Committee’s office on Krondprindsens Gade by Friday.

INTRIGUE CARNIVAL TROUPE HOLDS RECRUITMENT DRIVE

Intrigue Carnival Troupe will hold its recruitment drive on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., at Tutu Park Mall on St. Thomas. New and old members are welcome.
